It’s almost that time of year that we take a moment to thank and appreciate our father. Picking the perfect gift can sometimes be a difficult task, but DEWAR’S Scotch whiskey and Freemans Sporting Club announced a partnership that will making the gift giving process a little easier.
Creating two different one-of-a-kind experiences for Father’s Day, DEWAR’S embraces their deeply rooted bonds to fatherhood while working with an iconic New York men’s lifestyle brand.
Freemans Sporting Club, located on 8 Rivington Street in the Lower East Side, pays homage to the art of American handmade goods ranging from suits to shoes. The Barbershop, part of Freemans Sporting Club, takes haircutting and professional shaving to the next level, making every visit a unique one.
“This Father’s Day partnership between Dewar’s and Freemans Sporting Club feels organic,” Gabe Cardarella, Dewar’s National Brand Ambassador, said. “The two brands invoke a great sense of heritage and history. The whole shop matches Dewar’s vintage aesthetic, with eight barber stations complete with oversized glass cabinets and rich distressed wood.”
Treat your dad to a glass of DEWAR’S 12 on the rocks while he enjoys a good old-fashioned straight razor shave at the Barbershop for $50. As he gets pampered by the professionals the hot shave includes re-shave oil, shaving cream, hot foam, aftershave, and hot eucalyptus towels. Sipping some scotch and leaving the Barbershop feeling refreshed is a great gift idea for any dad. There is also a haircut and shave package that is available for $100.
DEWAR’S 12 is a luxuriously rich fruity and smooth blend, with warm, buttery and mellow notes. Once the scotch is blended it is returned to the vintage oak casks to mature further. This extra step is called double barrel aging and it makes DEWAR’S 12 Blended Scotch Whisky an even smoother blend with a long, lingering finish.
For the business and modern father, the Scotch & A Suit package is the ideal gift. All you have to do is set an appointment at Freemans Sporting Club, and the tailors take care of the rest. As your father sips a glass of DEWAR’S 18, he will be fitted for classical American 2-button suit. The jacket features high armholes for an unrivaled sense of comfort, and is made in America. Any businessman wishes to get a high quality customized suit, and for $1600 your father will be forever thankful.
DEWAR’S 18 is for the Scotch drinker who is ready to step up to a more luxurious libation with his made-to-measure suit. It offers a mellow, sweetly soft dram with notes of butterscotch and almonds and a long, lingering and pleasantly dry finish.
“Inviting your dad to enjoy some Dewar’s while experiencing a proper hot shave or getting fitted for a made to measure suit is really the perfect gift,” Cardarella said. “Dewar’s was founded by a father and his two sons, which makes it an especially fitting gift for the holiday.”
Before people give their father either one of these one-of-a-kind experiences, make a Father’s Day cocktail from the DEWAR’S recipes below:
DEWARS 12 NEW YORK SOUR
2 parts DEWAR’S 12 Blended Scotch whisky
1 part fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoonful of white caster sugar
1 dash egg whites
Dash of Angostura bitter
Put all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake vigorously to achieve a foamy texture, and then strain into a sour glass. Garnish with a dash of Angostura bitters. Using egg whites is option but it will add a nice frothy consistency,
DEWARS 12 MANHATTAN
2 ½ parts DEWAR’S 18 or DEWAR’s 12 Blended Scotch whisky
¾ parts MARTINI Sweet Vermouth
Dash of Angostura Bitter
1 twist of orange peel
1 Maraschino cherry
Combine the DEWAR’S 12, the Martini Rossi and bitters with 2-3 cubes in a mixing glass. Stir gently. Don’t bruise the spirits and cloud the drink. Place the cherry in a chilled Martini glass and stain the whisky mixture over the cherry. Rub the cut edge of the orange peel over the rim of the glass and twist it over the drink to release the oils but don’t drop it in.
DEWARS OLD FASHIONED
1 part DEWAR’S White Label Blended Scotch whisky
1 teaspoon sugar
2 dashes bitters
2 orange slices
2 maraschino cherries
water or soda
In the bottom of a rocks glass, carefully muddle the sugar, bitters, 1 orange slice, 1 cherry and splash of water or soda. Remove the orange rind and add DEWAR’S and ice. Garnish with the remaining orange slice and cherry.
