There really is no such thing as summer in the city when you live in New York. Locals can’t get away from the concrete jungle fast enough come Friday and most head towards the beaches in the Hamptons or Jersey Shore. But if you want to get away from the crowds filled with Manhattaners, we know plenty of other amazing spots to spend your weekends at.

One such place is Mount Airy Casino Resort in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains. Easy to get to from the Tri-State area, the casino resort is less than a two-hour drive from the city. Perfect for any group of vacationers, Mount Airy has something for everyone. Gamblers and those who want to test their luck can head to the casino, which boasts over 1,800 slot machines and 80 table games. The bright lights and exciting stakes make for a sensory explosion of fun. You can dance the night away on premises at Gypsies Nightclub, which often hosts concerts, comedians, and other nighttime entertainment, or head to the indoor/outdoor pool area called Get Wet. Whether you want to relax or party, this is an ideal location within the resort, where guests can relax in the water or poolside, or order up cocktails in the cabanas if you’re feeling more rowdy.

Those who want to relax can enjoy The Spa at Mount Airy, where you can choose from a variety of services — we highly recommend getting rubbed down by one of their masseuses; the Signature Massage had us melting. However, if you’re looking for a more active getaway, there’s plenty more options to choose from. Not only is there a 24-hour fitness center, but Mount Airy is also well known for its award-winning 18-hole golf course, which the property thankfully overlooks (it’s beautiful).

One of the best parts about staying at Mount Airy is that everything you need is right on property. You can have a whole vacation without ever leaving the resort. In addition to all these amazing activities, they also have nine (yes, nine!) places where you can find a bite to eat. They have a Starbucks and Red Mango on premises, as well as Nostalgia Candy Store, The Buffet, Chef’s Table at The Buffet, Get Wet Pool Bar, and Lucky 8 Noodle & Sushi Bar. During our stay, we dined at Guy Fieri’s Mt. Pocono Kitchen and Bistecca by Il Mulino, which we highly recommend. The former is a more casual option, which was perfect for the night of our arrival when we just wanted to sit down and get some food in our stomaches. Of course, it’s not the healthiest of restaurants, but it’s definitely tasty, so come hungry. The latter is a modern Italian steakhouse, that was not only instantly charming, but highly satisfying. This is definitely the place to go when celebrating a special occasion!

And everything in between is great, as well. The rooms are comfortable and stylish (perfect for ordering in some room service and renting a movie), the staff is pleasant and accommodating, and the lobby is strife with stunning photo ops. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, enjoying a romantic getaway, or just need a weekend out of town, Mount Airy Casino Resort has plenty of opportunities for you to get everything you want out of a vacation. And hopefully you’ll leave with a few extra bucks in your pocket!
