There’s something to be said about change. Formally known as Dewey’s Flatiron, Dewey’s Pub, now located at 135 West 30th street, is changing your perception of pubs. Keeping the same charm that regulars loved, the new gastropub features a 2,850-square-foot eatery, including a 660-square-foot patio and a new scrumptious menu.
Connected to the newly built Courtyard New York Manhattan/Chelsea, Dewey’s Pub appeals to visitors to New York and the die-hard New York foodies. With appetizers like Short Rib Beef Sliders, Lobster Rolls and Lobster Mac and cheese, Dewey’s will have food connoisseurs salivating. I opted for the Lobster Mac and cheese to start because I couldn’t resist the savory combination.
I made sure I saved room for my entree. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and bacon-wrapped asparagus, the Ribeye–cooked to perfection–is not your traditional pub dish, but it’s not to be missed. The menu offers a Burger Straight Up, which is a burger served with any toppings you like and a Blackened Catfish Wrap. Regulars suggested the Bourbon BBQ, a boneless baby back rib sandwich served on a pretzel hero.
We can’t talk about a pub without mentioning the drink selection. With twenty-four delicious beers on tap –including a few local brews, you will want to try them all. The wine list and cocktail menu is vast despite your preconceived notion of a pub.
The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and the menu was impressive. All in all, Dewey’s Pub has something for everyone and made me excited about New York pubs again.
