Alphabet City just got a major upgrade. A new dining experience, brought to New Yorkers by owner Amar Patel and executive chef Wesley Wobles, boasts Moroccan fare, signature cocktails and a hookah lounge. Casablanca, named for the classic film, is gorgeously decorated, with vintage artwork from the movie, whitewashed brick walls and Moroccan lanterns. The ambiance is immediately enchanting and if you aren’t taken with the dining room, there is also a downstairs speakeasy lounge called Fes Down.
An array of draft and bottled beer, wines and signature cocktails await diners to pair with their meal. Delicious, flavorful and comforting food adorns the menu, with dishes such as Braised Lamb Shank, Lollipop Wings and Lamb Moussaka. Must try items include the Mac n Cheese 2 Ways, with lobster and bacon, which was any cheese-lover’s dream come true, and the Brisket Burger, which was tender, juicy and cooked just right.
Finish your evening with one of Casablanca’s insanely awesome hookahs, which not only look unlike any you’ve ever seen before, but also come in flavors you’ve only dreamed of. That’s right, get ready to try Banana Split, Skittles, and even Sour Patch Kids flavored hookah. It’s nice and smooth and actually tastes exactly how you’d expect.
In fact, we don’t have one bad thing to say about Casablanca. We can guarantee that this will be a delicious and fun place to spend your evening.
Casablanca is located at 189 E. 3rd Street.
