The infamous Betty Halbreich, whose style and class have earned her the title of the most sought after personal shopper, who rose to fame through her work at Bergdorf Goodman, released her memoir, “I’ll Drink to That: A Life in Style, with a Twist” last week. The mood at the launch party was anything but somber, however guests were sad and humbled that the comedic genius Joan Rivers, who was scheduled to host the event, passed away earlier that same day.
Other notables in the fashion industry attended the book launch, including Isaac Mizrahi, Lena Dunham, Ruven Afanador, Edward Bess and more. When asked about Betty’s latest book, Lena Dunham stated, “I’m so happy for her. I’m so proud and I’m so excited. And I’m sad Joan Rivers isn’t here.” The notorious fashion risk-taker let us in on what her favorite fashion staple is in her closet at the moment, “…denim cut-offs. I’ve just been wearing acid wash cut-offs all summer.” With Dunham and Decker both on the cut-off bandwagon, we’re sad to see summer leave and fall come!
The memoir covers Betty’s words of wisdom on fashion, life, and her clientele — both celebrity and otherwise — with laughs along the way. The fashionista was all smiles at the event, happily signing book copies for the masses.
