Abbotsford Road Takes a New Approach to Coffee

Abbotsford Road isn’t your typical neighborhood coffee joint. Sure, its massive square footage in an industrial building in Gowanus definitely allows for a decent-sized weekend crowd of hip Brooklyn moms, or the laptop-toting freelancers who occupy the chic wooden tables during the week, but there’s a lot more there than meets the eye. Educating their customer base, importing the highest quality products, and guaranteeing ethically sourced beans from farm to coffee cup makes Abbotsford one of the most interesting new cafes to emerge in Brooklyn.

While sourced from international farms, all of the beans are roasted on premises at the Brooklyn location on Sackett street. Additionally, Abbotsford Road is aiming to serve its wares in restaurants and cafés around Brooklyn and Manhattan, advancing the Australian café culture that has cropped up around the city in the last few years.

Another aspect of Abbotsford Road that sets it apart from other coffee shops and cafés is its commitment to educating its customers. Classes offered on site include an introduction to specialty coffee, barista skills, latte art, and alternative brewing, all of which include samples of unique single origin coffees, as well as house blends. It’s a perfect gift for the coffee lover in your life, or just something a bit off the beaten path from your normal social activities.

The commitment to quality and the clear passion behind every aspect of Abbotsford Road’s business model are both elements that will ensure their success moving forward. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
