If you’re looking for a new place to enjoy beverages outdoors as the warm weather rolls in, look no further than Ambrose Beer & Lobster. Located on the breezy, cobblestoned streets of the South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan, this airy pub invites you to imbibe and celebrate the freedom of summer in a casual, laid back atmosphere.

The newest addition to The Lure Group’s rapidly growing empire, Ambrose Beer & Lobster premiered the revamped version of last summer’s hot-spot Ambrose Hall at a fabulous grand opening party last week, and we were lucky enough to attend. Emphasizing its Hamptons-like vibe, the party’s main attraction was a twenty-foot lobster roll, as well as a short list of nautically themed cocktails, all of which had their own flavor profile and summery feel. To top it all off, Orange is the New Black star Dascha Polanco made an appearance, and dominated the beer pong table while enjoying all of the delicious treats Ambrose had to offer.

Passed hors d’oeuvres were the name of the game at this event, and we couldn’t be happier for the opportunity to sample a variety of menu items. We were pleasantly surprised that as the name suggests, there are a significant amount of lobster-centric items on the menu. Of the lobster items, our favorites were the lobster avocado lettuce wraps, light and flavorful and fresh. A sneaky success, the Bavarian style giant pretzel with beer cheese was an excellent accompaniment for a bit of a heartier snack.

After what seemed like forever (it was maybe an hour) the largest lobster roll on earth was siphoned off and gingerly distributed throughout the crowd, and it was every bit worth waiting for. The roll was hot and buttery, the meat succulent and glazed in just the right amount of mayo. It was a generous size for a sample portion, and is definitely something we will come back for repeatedly throughout the summer.
