One of the most appealing things about traveling to France is, of course, the food. The French sure know how to cook (and bake!) and we’re lucky here in New York City that we can have Parisian food without paying for a flight. Le Relais de Venice L’Entrecôte was founded in paris almost 60 years go, and now has iterations in London, Mexico and New York. Like the original, there’s no menu here. People come here for steak frites and steak frites only.
A simple concept, this spot takes the guesswork out of ordering food. In the mood for steak? This is the spot! For just $29.95, guests will receive a prix fixe of bread, green salad (served with a mustard vinaigrette and crushed walnuts), and the main event, steak frites served in their special secret house sauce. All you have to do is tell your server how you’d like your steak cooked — blue, rare, medium or well done. The steak is perfectly cooked to your liking, the sauce is addictive, and the fries are wonderfully crisp. Even when we were done, we couldn’t stop dipping our fries in the sauce. Pure crack.
Pair your meal with a selection of fine French wines, or top it off with one of their many desserts. We recommend Le Vacherín du Relais, a spectacular tower of ice cream and merengue, covered in chocolate sauce. Just when you think you’re full, think again — this plate will be empty minutes after you take the first bite.
Secondes, s’il vous plait?
