Danish contemporary interiors retailer BoConcept, along with nendo, the Japanese design house led by Oki Sato, introduced fusion, a design collaboration that will arrive in BoConcept stores nationwide on April 1. The global launch event was held at the Scandinavia House in New York City February 6. Manhattan with a Twist was there to celebrate the launch.
An amazing assortment of Danish and Japanese hors d’oeuvres were provided by BondSt and Mads Refslund, co-founder of the world-renowned restaurant Noma and executive chef at Acme in NYC, to coincide with the fusion theme. The guests were greeted by stylish servers with a choice of sake, Nordic cider or wine, and there was even an origami artist creating origami on site. Home decor and fashion professionals were in for an amazing event.
The joining of BoConcept and nendo has resulted in a strong new design collection where Japanese aesthetics and Danish functionality are fused into new, unexpected twists in materials, shapes and colors that produce little surprises and put a smile on your face. Torben Paulin, CEO of BoConcept presented the collaboration along with celebrated designer Oki Sato, who shared his origami inspiration and walked guests through the furniture and accessories collection he created for BoConcept. Space, or should I say lack of space, is an issue in Tokyo. New Yorkers can relate to this, as well (studio apartment for two sound familiar?). Oki Sato discussed how he wanted to design beautiful pieces that were also functional, even in small spaces. The collection is sleek, stylish and extremely comfortable. No matter where you reside, the collection caters to your needs in the most gorgeous way possible.
I’m really looking forward to the collection. I have always been of fan of BoConcept, but now with the new collaboration with nendo, I’m even more in love with brand.
