Shake Shack has got some competition! The famous chain, known for its tasty burgers, has met its match with Big Smoke Burger, which recently opened its first restaurant in New York City. The restaurant, which is a Canadian transplant, is located in Chelsea and is a burger lover’s dream come true.
Serving up hand-crafted burgers, homemade milkshakes and hand-cut fries, this spot is definitely a place you will leave full. And these aren’t your average burgers either; Big Smoke Burger boasts five classic style, along with nine signature burgers, all of which can be made with a veggie, chicken, lamb or organic burger, in addition to beef. Some of their popular signature burgers include the Green Burger, topped with goat cheese, roasted red peppers, cilantro-feta spread and lettuce, and the Crazy Burger, topped with jalapeño havarti, coleslaw, chipotle mayo, bbq sauce, hot peppers and lettuce. They have all your standard burger side dishes like French fries and onions rings, but the real standout here is the poutine, a traditional Canadian dish that includes fries topped with real Ontario cheese curds and gravy. You should also plan on pairing your meal with one of their old-fashioned milkshakes, which come in three classic flavors, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. They are simple, yet delicious.
Unlike many other burger joints around, Big Smoke Burger prides itself on using only the freshest ingredients to create their homemade, high-quality, gourmet food. Additionally, this is the first Big Smoke Burger in America that will offer beer and wine. Soon to open their bar, the restaurant will serve their own signature lager, as well as craft, bottled and canned beer, along with wine from Gotham Project. The space is welcoming and straightforward, whether you want to order take out or dine in and watch your food get prepared for you right up front. Diners can also look forward to al fresco dining coming soon, complete with a glass-enclosed atrium for customers to enjoy the sunshine.
If you’re on the hunt for something delicious to fill your stomach with, Big Smoke Burger delivers top notch fare, not just with their burgers, but with their sides and shakes, as well. You won’t leave hungry.
Big Smoke Burger is located at 70 7th Avenue.
