Summer imbibing just got much, much better. Forget what you think you know about how to drink wines because a new brand just hit the market that’s going to blow your mind. Usually wine drinkers stick to whites and rosé in the hot summer months, but Fichimori, a new red wine, is shattering people’s conceptions about wine. Fichimori ($15.99) is the first red wine to be consumed chilled!
Produced by Tormaresca Winery in Italy, the wine was expertly crafted by a combination of both old world and modern techniques. The Puglian wine utilizes a relatively unknown grape called Negroamaro, along with a touch of Syrah. The vibrant wine has aromas of pomegranate, tart cherry and rose floral notes, which is fresh and fruity on the palate with a delicate velvet finish. The name Fichimori, which in Puglia’s local dialect means “dark figs,” showcases the coloring of the popular fruit in its bottle.
The wine features minimal oak and soft tannins and is uniquely delicious. The chilled red wine gives winos a new way to enjoy their summer months. The light and tasty wine pairs well with pastas and citrus salads, as well as with seafood. So nix the evening cocktail and grab a bottle of Fichimori for happy hour this summer.
