Located all the way downtown in the Financial District lies a new German beer hall called Bavaria Bierhaus. Whether you reside in the neighborhood or travel from what feels like an outer borough, this spot is definitely worth the mileage. Their beer menu is outstanding, featuring all German brews, with 24 on tap and 20 bottles. Their bar staff is both friendly and knowledgable, helping you navigate the menu and providing you with stellar recommendations. All beers are available by the 1/2 liter, liter, or 2 liter boot.
Not only is their beer authentic, but the whole bar is, as well. Both the bar and furniture in the restaurant were built and shipped over from Erding, Germany, giving the space a welcoming and cozy feel. The staff also dresses to the nines in traditional lederhosen and dirndls. Not only is the look and feel of the space completely German, but it doesn’t skimp on space, either. With two spacious floors and plenty of seating, you won’t feel claustrophobic at this place.
Unlike many other beer halls in the city, this spot actually has some top notch eats. Executive chef John Vaughn, who has worked at some of the most iconic restaurants in New York City, helms the kitchen, bringing approachable German cuisine to the masses. You of course will find beer hall favorites such as sausages, wiener schnitzel and pretzels, as well as some creatively delectable dishes a little more out of the ordinary. If you think you’ll just find typical German pub grub here, think again. Their Sauerbraten (short rib) was out of this world!
