Dash Gaining Speed

Dash Software, LLC, announced this month that their mobile restaurant app has expanded outside of the Big Apple and found its way to the Windy City. Dash is gaining popularity among the millennials who enjoy the ease of paying for their dining endeavors through their mobile devices.

For those unfamiliar with Dash, this is how it works. When you arrive at a restaurant or bar that accepts Dash, you simply alert the server that you would like to pay the bill with the app.  The server then connects your tab wirelessly to their POS system, allowing you to view the items you have ordered. You cannot order food or drinks through the app because developers were fearful that this could take away the personal interaction between the guest and staff.

Dash is the creation of Jeff McGregor and former college roommate Gennedy Spirin. The two conceived the idea while eating brunch on New Year’s Day and because of the holiday rush they had difficulty attracting the attention of the server to receive their bill.

When dining with friends who also have Dash, you can easily integrate the phones to allow for carefree bill-splitting. Currently Dash operates in 50 businesses in New York City with other owners becoming increasing intrigued. As McGregor noted, “Dash is simple — great food, great dining experiences, and a great night out.”

The launch in Chicago includes 20 restaurants so far, with many more to follow. Offering customers this option allows for better service and a higher percentage of customer loyalty. We may be on the verge of creating a new style of dining with a more personalized social experience.
