Conveniently located right outside Bryant Park, DaDong boasts unparalleled Chinese cuisine from eponymous Beijing-bred Chef Dong. The New York restaurant comprises two floors, elegantly designed, complete with a stunning outdoor terrace that makes for ideal summer soirees. Inside the glamorous restaurant, guests can set up shop at the striking center bar or hunker down for the evening by ordering up some of their decadent fare.
Their extensive menu gives you ample options to choose from, including starters like their unique Squid Ink Soup, which is flavored with ample black truffle and swimming tofu threads and their not-to-be-missed Stir-Fried Duck Treasures, which are served on a crisp potato nest with pine nuts. The flavorful and tender duck, combined with the hearty bun make it a delicious treat. We also loved their Napolean Salad, which is an unusual take on a salad, comprised of arugula salad, eggplant relish, and radish sandwiched between crisp wafers, as well as the Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras, accompanied by pickled lily bulb and fig jam.
Main dish favorites included the Prime Chili Diced Short Rib, Beijing Zhajiang Noodles, Crispy Prawns, and Honey Braised Pork Cheeks.
DaDong also recently launched new hot pots, which are customizable to each guest’s preferences. For the base, diners can choose from aromatic chicken, seafood, or ginger and scallion soup, all stewed for 16 hours. Prime short rib and Maine Lobster serve as protein options, which will come alongside a complimentary basket of fresh vegetables and traditional dipping sauces.
If you’re seeking a robust Chinese meal in the city, DaDong hits all the right spots.
