From the theater company that brought you last year’s award winning hit, Love in the Time Machines, (Audience Choice Award, Frigid New York, 2013) comes a brand new solo show, Drag Queen Stole My Dress. The autobiographical tale from Toronto’s Gillian English tells the story of love, loss, casino show girls, and a drag queen with kleptomania.
In this one women show, Gillian gives you a hysterically funny glimpse into her relationship with her fiancé, sister and soon-to-be mother in law. In her very relateable journey, Gillian loves who she is, forgets who she is and finds her way back to who she wants to be. Spoiler alert: there’s beer involved. What I loved about the show was her ability to find the silver lining in just about every situation.
Drag Queen Stole My Dress is directed by British-born comedian Chris Gibbs and written and produced by Gillian English. The show is part of the Frigid New York Festival and will play The Kraine Theatre, 85 East 4th Street (Between 2nd Ave and Bowery) New York, New York, through March 8, 2014.
