Last week, Manhattan with a Twist ventured to Eleven Madison Park to learn about a new wine merchant that offers worldwide shipping of French wines called Paris Wine Company. Founder Joshua Adler brings consumers an expertly curated collection of wine from small producers and sought after cult figures in the French wine scene. The company allows consumers to purchase individual wines, or ‘Seasonal Six Packs,’ comprised of six different wines, shipped seasonally to your home throughout the year.
At Eleven Madison Park we were able to mingle with Joshua and try all of the wines in their first Seasonal Six Pack, which were paired with hors d’oeuvres by chef Daniel Eddy. A real standout was the Piollet Champagne Brut Reserve, a delicious champagne that I could definitely use more of in my life. Chef Eddy recommends pairing this wine with oysters, rosemary and cheddar gougeres. A really unique wine we tried was the Vincent Dancer Meursault Les Corbins 2011, which is a smoky chardonnay with a lemon zest finish. As a regular chardonnay drinker I was surprised by the rare taste of this particular label. Chef Eddy recommends pairing this with raw or grilled scallops with gremolata. Another favorite was the Domaine Bertrand Machard De Gramont Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Allots 2010. This was a nice, soft Pinot Noir that really pleased my palate. Pair this wine with roasted chicken, garlic confit, sorrel, seared liver, and cherry gastric and you won’t go wrong. The other incredible wines included in this six pack are Alexandre Bain Pouilly-Fume Pierre Precieuse 2011, Domaine Pierre Gonon Saint Joseph 2011 and Gar’o’vin Anjou Villages 2011.
We certainly enjoyed trying all of these delightfully unique wines and know that you will, too! Make sure to check out their website and see what else they have to offer.
