Earlier this week, Rob Lowe joined Crest to help launch the Crest Healthier Smiles Project, which is a nationwide education program about the importance of good oral care for children. Along with the PTA and Feeding America, the project will donate 5 tubes of toothpaste to those who need it most if you take a picture of your smile and upload it to Twitter, Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #HealthierSmilesProject before October 31st.
At an intimate event in New York City, Rob Lowe discussed the importance of Crest’s project — kids with poor oral health are three times more likely to miss school, while kids with toothaches are nearly four times more likely to have a lower GPA. More than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental related illness. “There is no reason to miss school because of dental health in 2016,” said Lowe.
Regular visits to dental professionals are a must and this project will help to reinforce that idea. Lowe told us about his days in school, where he recalls memories of great teachers and being the nerd in the front row with his hand raised high. It’s important for kids these days to look back and recall those same memories, but without the proper attention to healthcare, that won’t happen. And Rob knows the importance of brushing your teeth. As an actor, it’s his duty to kiss plenty of beautiful women (can we apply for that job?), as he so kindly reminded us, so he makes sure to brush his teeth before every love scene.
