Brika is a community where people can sell their handmade goods that is somewhat reminiscent of Etsy. The only difference is that to become a seller you must first fill out an application before you can actually start selling.
Brika was founded by Kena Paranjape and Jen Lee Koss, whose philosophy is that you should follow your passion, and that is exactly what they did with Brika. Kena Paranjape is the Co-Founder and Crafter of Brand for Brika and Jen Lee Koss is the Co-Founder, as well as the Builder of Business for Brika. They both met through Kena Paranjape’s blog In Life and In Fashion, and after meeting, the two immediately clicked. Having graduated from prestigious universities and studying marketing, both Paranjape and Koss know exactly what they are doing and have the skills to make sure that Brika is a success.
Every product on Brika is handmade from people across North America. You have Art and Prints, House and Home, Jewelry, Baby accessories/clothes, accessories and collections. Each category makes it easier to navigate the website and find what you are looking for. The different “makers” have their time to shine when they are picked as a Featured Maker on the homepage. When clicking on a specific maker, you have the chance to read about their background and see the products that they offer. The good thing about Brika is that you can always find something unique and new that you won’t be able to find just at any store. What I like most about the website is the layout because it is very user friendly and the color palette includes pastel colors that make the products pop. This in turn helps attract more attention to the products that the makers are putting up on the website.
We are at a time right now where people are beginning to really like the idea of owning their small businesses and using their skills to do just that. Brika gives people the option to sell their handmade products online and further build their brand. Jen Lee Koss and Kena Paranjape both set out to follow their passion and use their skills to create a site like this and in return the site that they created allows other people to also follow their passion and share it with the world. Brika is a community where everyone has a chance to thrive with the products that they have created.
You can visit www.brika.com to browse the different makers and purchase or you can also be come a maker by filling out the application online.
