The Kentucky Derby comes but once a year and with it comes outrageous hats, high fashion, and the most exciting two minutes in sports. With so many spots in the city it’s hard to know where to throw down for the big race, but we’ve got you covered. Check out any of the below spots for the hottest Derby parties in NYC.
Both The Windsor Gansevoort Park and The Windsor West Village will be hosting a Kentucky Derby viewing party, offering amazing drink specials, such as Georgia Mint Juleps and Mint Chocolate Chip Bourbon Shots for just $12 each.
Celebrate the Kentucky Derby in not-so-traditional fashion at Jay-Z’s The 40/40 Club with an awesome 40/40 Mint Julep and watch the race on one of the 33 flat screen TVs located throughout the venue. The venue will open at 3pm and start off with an open bar, lasting until 6pm. Additionally, there will be $5 bellinis from 6pm-close.
Pennsylvania 6 will be hosting a great Kentucky Derby party from 12-6pm. Don’t forget to wear the craziest hat you can find because the owner of the best hat will receive a $500 grand prize. They will also be serving $7 Oaks Lilys and Mint Juleps all afternoon.
iAdventure.com is hosting a big to-do at The Village Pourhouse on May 4th. Don your finest derby duds and enter their best dressed competition for your chance to win at $50 cash prize. Enter their pool to see which horse will take home the gold! Tickets range from $15-$40 and can be purchased here.
Sanctuary Ultra Lounge will be showcasing the shortest race in history on 16 flat screens and a massive projector, all while serving up $10 Mint Juleps and recipes direct from Louisville. Guests are encouraged to come in their most eccentric hat for a chance to win a $150 gift certificate to The Sanctuary Hotel’s new sports lounge or Haven Rooftop. Head to Local West for the largest Kentucky Derby Celebration in the city. There will be Woodford Reserve Mint Juleps, Kentucky-style cuisine, live music and a 5,000 square foot beer garden. From 12-8pm, guests can watch the race on the jumbotron, hang out on the roof deck, partake in the hat parade, or even order up a hat from the onsite milliner (hat-maker, for those of you who don’t know what a milliner is).
