Like many others in the US, I do my best to try and eat healthy when I’m not out binging at the city’s best restaurants. Luckily, many brands are popping up promoting healthy lifestyles, making it easier to support the health kick. The Yerba Project is one of those brands.

For those of you who haven’t heard of yerba mate, it’s an all-natural herbal tea originally from South America. However, it contains five times the amount of antioxidants and polyphenols as green tea, with one-third of the caffeine and lower levels of tannic acid. Yerba Project blends air-dried organic yerba mate from South America with a selection of ingredients to add flavor to their products, from ginger root and peppermint to hibiscus flowers and spearmint. After brewing in micro batches, they lightly sweeten the mate with organic blue agave. The small batches allow the company to ensure quality and flavor.

The Yerba Project offers seven delicious flavors, including hibiscus, lemon, ginger, mint, purple rain, switchel and naked maestro. We loved how refreshing these drinks were, but our favorite flavors were the lemon and purple rain. Plus, yerba mate has numerous health benefits, including many vitamins and minerals known to not only increase clarity, but also improve digestion, sleep, lower cholesterol and much more.

For those of you who want to try the “drink of the Gods” for yourself are in luck — check their website to buy online and see where you can purchase in it in the city. Bottoms up!
