There isn’t anything New Yorkers are more obsessed with than brunch. We brunch on Saturday. We brunch on Sunday, and if we weren’t the busiest people on earth, we would squeeze in a brunch or two during the week. So when I was invited to a brunch event at the Handy Liquor Bar, I jumped at the opportunity. This particular brunch, Hashbrowns and Hashtags, had a special twist.
Hashbrowns and Hashtags is an event looking to unite women entrepreneurs and women influencers who have achieved success by utilizing social media. The organizers bring in a panel of successful women to talk about their careers, products or organizations, and how they have utilized social media to their advantage. This edition’s panel included Time Out New York’s Editor in Chief, Terri White, Lauren Singer from Trash is for Tossers and Leah McSweeney of Married to the Mob Clothing.
While women from a variety of backgrounds and careers mingled and networked, we were encouraged to take advantage of the specialty drink, a Vdka 6100 strawberry champagne cocktail, and brunch starters, which included a healthy fruit and yogurt parfait and avocado toast. If you thought that sounded yummy, wait until you hear about the main course. It included Classic Eggs Benedict, Avocado Hash with Potatoes and Griddle Eggs and, my favorite, crispy Applewood Bacon.
After we ate, we were introduced to the panel of successful women, who had amazing and inspiring stories. They shared advice on women forging success in male dominating industries, motherhood and managing a career, and utilizing social media to grow their businesses.
Hashbrowns and Hashtags is an empowering event bringing badass women together over the most sensational brunch menu. Make sure to connect with them on Facebook to keep up to date on upcoming events.
