The most romantic time of the year is here and as it gets closer to February 14th people are trying to figure out ways to impress their valentine. Restaurants throughout the city are offering special prix-fixe menus that are filled with gourmet specialties that will make a memorable night.
Looking to put a twist on Valentine’s Day dining Louro, located on at 142 W. 10th Street, is celebrating the tragic true love stories in history. Some of these iconic lovers include the heartbroken Shah Jahan, who constructed the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for his deceased wife, the suicide of Cleopatra and Mark Anthony, Romeo and Juliet and the Portuguese King Pedro whose great love was beheaded on his own father’s order.
The seven-course menu is complimented with aphrodisiac ingredients, such as oysters, eggs, truffles, almonds and more. If seven-courses seem too much, Louro also offers a special three-course prix-fixe menu. Available from February 13th to February 15th, the seven-course menu is $95 per person and the three-course menu is $65 per person.
Helping to spice things up Nerai, located at 55 East 54th Street, embraces their Greek culture by serving a five-course menu filled with guaranteed Ancient Greek aphrodisiacs. Ordering the Truffle Almond Soup has been known to arouse passion in both sexes and according to poets, Adonis dined on raw almonds every night before meeting his mistresses. For the main course, try the Maine Lobster Orzo with shaved asparagus, which is also said to set a romantic tone. Enjoy these delicious treats and see if the Ancient Greeks were right about these aphrodisiacs for $95 per person.
