The techniques and rituals that go into producing wines and cuisine can be just as unique as the wine and food itself. Those diverse techniques should be experienced and celebrated by all. And that’s just what nearly 2,000 wine lovers, media and trade people did at this year’s Kosher Food and Wine Experience.
Host by Royal Wine Corp., attendees tasted exceptional kosher wines from over 60 wineries from all over the world. Held at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan, the event included kosher wine from Israel, Italy, France, Argentina, Spain, California and many other wine producing regions. “Consumption of kosher wine is outpacing general market consumption by more than 100%, with an average price of $20+ per bottle.,” Jay Buchsbaum from Royal Wine Corp, stated in a press release. “Every year sees more and more kosher wines earning top scores and prestigious awards from the industry.”
“An extraordinary bounty of wines from all over the world is coming to market in 2020,” Nathan Herzog, President of Royal Wine, explained. “This year’s most extraordinary bottlings included Château Léoville Poyferré Saint Julien 2017, Château Giscours Margaux 2017, Flam Noble 2016, Champagne Drappier Rosé de Saignée, and Herzog Single Vineyard Calistoga 2016.” A few of my favorites wines came from the Jezreel Valley Winery, Covenant Winery, and most notably, the Barons de Rothschild Champagne and Champagne Rosé.
From lamb, chicken wings and pastas to veggies and sliders, the experience also offered visitors the opportunity to sample mouthwatering kosher cuisine from popular restaurants, chefs and caterers. For those of us who had a sweet tooth, there were also a wide array of elegant kosher desserts to sample. The Kosher Food & Wine Experience is produced every year by the Royal Wine Corporation, and alongside New York, has shows in Los Angeles, and London.
