Art and activism partner up again with the LAIO pop up exhibit. Last week Tatiana Pagés debuted her collection of sustainable jewelry meant to encourage social and environmental responsibility through design in New York City.
Co-sponsored by Cîroc and Moscow 57, the pop up exhibit opening party was held at an exclusive event space in the chic Meatpacking District in Manhattan. Art connoisseurs, fashion insiders and activists were all in attendance to celebrate the launch. There was even an appearance by the President of Pratt Institute, Thomas Schutte.
Innovative is an understatement when you are referring to LAIO. Vintage metal, wood, cardboard, packing paper and Nespresso pods are just a few of the items the socially conscience jewelry is made from. All of the unique pieces are green, hand-painted, and have water proof protection.
Tatiana Pagés, originally from Chili but now residing in New Y0rk City, has been exploring socially conscience art for 10 years now. One of her pieces is part of the permanent collection at the Museum at FIT in New York. Sixty percent of the proceeds brought in during the six day exhibit (June 4-11) went to AID For AIDS, a non-profit organization committed to empowering communities at risk of HIV and the population at large.
