Last week, crowds gathered on Eataly’s Birreria rooftop to raise a glass—and mug—to Lavazza’s new line of premium drip coffees. Cooking Channel stars Debi Mazar and Gabriele Corcos joined the Lavazza team to speak about the new coffee blends, which, as explained by our hosts, were created to reflect Lavazza’s commitment to quality and consistency, while also catering to the functional expectation Americans have for their coffee.
In addition to reminding the crowd of their century-long motto (“let our passion be your pleasure”), the Lavazza team explained that their company’s mission has always been to blend science with artistry—a philosophy that was elegantly showcased throughout the night at four captivating sampling stations. Each table revealed a new way for guests to sample the entire new line, from a delicious Disaronno and dark roast cocktail, to a whimsically decadent “coffee caviar” bite, atop whipped cream in an amuse-bouche spoon.
With a pre-dinner jolt, guests lined up for salt-crusted salmon, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, panzanella salad and a selection of Italian cheeses, while moving to beats spun by DJ Mia Moretti. If the night’s many pleasures are any reflection of the amount of passion Lavazza used to create their new line, we’re pretty sure America is in some wildly talented, coffee-crafting hands.
