Layana Aguilar, most famously known for her beautiful and sexy garments on Project Runway Season 11, unveiled her Fall/Winter 2014 collection during New York Fashion Week to a big crowd. The Brazilian born designer is a former dancer and uses the movement of the body as inspiration for her designs. Having watched Project Runway, it was amazing to see the progression of this talented young designer at her presentation.
Her latest collection was a delicate balance of hard and soft — with edgy, yet feminine pieces. Her looks alluded to protection but also showcased each model’s sensuality…which we imagine must have been a difficult feat. There were light pinks and peaches, as well as darker plums, greys and black throughout the collection. Layana’s collection incorporated various fabrics and textures, including neoprene, wool crepe and, of course, leather. The designer even created her own print to use in the collection, which was inspired by the graffiti of New York City. The styling really played to the message of the collection, with dark lips and brows juxtaposed with soft, porcelain skin.
