Political satire takes on a whole new meaning in Little Mac, Little Mac, You’re The Very Man. Part spaghetti Western, party film noir, written by Sean Patrick Monahan and James Presson, Little Mac is a heart-warming musical comedy based on John Gay’s The Beggar’s Opera.

Directed by Charile Polinger and original music by Alexander Sage Oyen, Little Mac starts with renowned outlaw named Mac, from the Wild West, who is on the run from the local oil tycoon, Mr, Peachum and his henchman Sheriff Lockit. Why? Well it seems that Little Mac is quit the lady’s man. He promised to marry Mr. Peacman’s daughter while already married to Sheriff Lockit’s daughter (you dog, you!). So after being chased out of town, Mac starts out on an adventure through American history in search of wealth. Some of America’s most infamous, influential and historical individuals give him lessons on capitalism, communism, and disenfranchisement. Yes, you will see special appearances from characters like Ronald Reagan, Al Gore, Bernie Madoff, Henry Ford, Jessica Rabbit and Lucille Ball (they’re all equally important, after all). There’s even an appearance from our favorite tech friend Siri. By the end of the play, you will have seen over 80 different familiar faces. With gun fights, love triangles, and roundtable conversations with mobsters, there’s a little something for everyone.

Little Mac, Little Mac, You’re The Very Man is an extremely funny take on aspects of money, government, and love that are not usually so funny. It’s over the top and witty, but maintains a certain charm.

Little Mac, Little Mac, You’re The Man plays at the Kraine Theater until April 27th. For times and ticket information, please visit horsetrade.info.
