Handbags are a woman’s quintessential accessory…or so we tell ourselves. We like them to match our outfits and be versatile enough to go from day to night and season to season. Manhattan with a Twist had a chance to catch up with Michelle Vale and view her new Fall 2014 handbag collection, perfectly named American Made Opulence.
Versatility, balance and texture seemed to be the reoccurring themes in the new collection. All of the collection’s bags have removable hardware. You can transform a shoulder bag into a clutch in a matter of seconds, or you can build your own bag by mixing and matching different pieces and hardware. Bags like the Hammerstein Chain Bag and Keitel Satchel have exquisite textures like wool and earthy python. And then there’s the Day to Night bags that are totes with actual iPad holders. Whatever your handbag style or needed function, the Michelle Vale Fall 2014 collection offers it.
Founded by Michelle Vale in 2007, Michelle Vale Inc., is a privately owned company that creates exceptionally crafted handbags. Not surprising if you’ve heard the name before. Familiar New Yorkers like Sarah Jessica Parker and Blake Lively have been seen carrying handbags by Michelle Vale. “We are proud to be one of the small group of designers who are made in New York City. This has always been and will always be very near and dear to my heart,” Michelle Vale. For more information and to see the fall 2014 collection, visit www.michellevale.com.
