Modern Art Takes Over Downtown

People of the art world are flocking to the historic 69th Regiment Armory for the inaugural Downtown Fair, a new modern and contemporary art fair with over 50 international art galleries displaying artwork.

The Downtown Fair provides a fresh alternative to acquire and view never before exhibited works in an intimate light. Throughout the unique selection of works, there is a strong focus and representation of emergent talent, as well as mid-career cutting-edge artists, anchored by a fresh selection of secondary market works by top name artists from the Modern & Post-War eras.

The Downtown Fair complements the Frieze Art Fair, one of the busiest weeks of the city’s art and cultural season. With nearly 600 artist on display, some of them include Marco Bruer and Stephen Wilkes. The Selection Committee worked closely with Downtown Fair Director Nick Korniloff and participating galleries to ensure a carefully-curated, rich-in-content, quality presentation, allowing collectors, institutions, curators and art advisors to buy with confidence.

The Downtown Fair partnered with several noteworthy philanthropic organizations with deep roots in arts and educa­tion, supporting their mission and energizing their efforts. It is a priority of the Downtown Fair to be involved with the local community and further arts awareness, as well as support and promote new and innovative|

There are curated programs that will occurred throughout the weekend, including a talk with internationally renowned designer and architect, Dror Benshetrit. Embracing the location of the first Downtown Fair, Professor and art journalist Roslyn Bernstein is scheduled to give a lecture about the history of the armory.

The Downtown Fair is open till May 11th at the 69th Regiment Armory located on Lexington Avenue between 25th and 26th Street.
