Anyone who’s lived in New York City has been to, or at least heard of, Slate, the popular bar/club/lounge hybrid located in Chelsea. It’s been a staple in the neighborhood for a whopping 18 years and recently received a $2 million dollar makeover. To celebrate, the new and improved event space hosted a carnival themed party to end all parties last week and it did not disappoint. Here’s what we discovered:

The space is HUGE. This 16,000 square foot space has two floors, which makes it a great spot to host parties of all sizes.

It’s a place to play! Slate is a spot you can go and literally spend all night here. There are three bowling lanes, a secret karaoke room, ping pong, pool tables, Skee-Ball, pinball, and foosball. Oh, and did we mention that theres a SLIDE that you can take from the top floor to the bottom?!

Drinking here can be interactive. In addition to your typical full bar, there’s also a BYOB (be your own bartender) pouring station with 20 adult beverages on tap to choose from.

You can also order up food here courtesy of Executive Chef Darryl Harmon. Items like salads, nachos, arepas, and sliders can all be found on the menu, including oh-so-trendy cauliflower crust pizza.

The opening bash went all out, with stilt walkers, burlesque performers and carnival acts weaving in and out of the crowd. Even celebrity faces made an appearance for the big event — the Real Housewives of New York were rolling cameras with Dorinda Medley, Ramona Singer and Tinsley Mortimer, Ja Rule swing by, and professional bowling hall of famer Pete Weber was there, as well.

If the opening party was any indication of what the future holds for Slate, it’s going to be BIG.
