Now if you’re unfamiliar with this place, you might be asking yourself…What the hell is a PIGNIC? A PIGNIC is a convenient box of deliciousness. Included in this BBQ treasure chest is a Rocket Pig sandwich, pickle, coleslaw, choice of chips, dessert and a drink. Although this lunch will run you $20, the meal is worth it. Unless you’re a Appalachian moonshine distiller or an extra on Duck Dynasty you sure aren’t eating BBQ everyday, but you deserve to treat your palate every so often. Great reviews matching tasty food have made this Chelsea spot popular among commuters and locals. This eatery only offers a BBQ pork sandwich which should tell you two things: 1. They must be crazy and 2. That sandwich must kick some serious ass. Swiss owner Chef Ralf Kuettel has perfected an eight step system for producing a mouth-watering signature sandwich. It’s all about the slow roast, baby!! Several treats and snacks are also available at Rocket Pig, such as bacon caramel. If you decide to dine in, Rocket Pig also has a nice spread of domestic and imported cheeses, as well as some tasty IPA’s. Your PIGNIC box is a to-go style order, which would be great to enjoy on the High Line located only a block away. Now that summer’s end is a stone throw away it’s time to ditch that summer bod and bulk up for the winter, just make sure your first stop is Rocket Pig.
