Famous master pastry chef Michel Richard just debuted his first New York City spot, Pomme Palais. The gourmet French cafe is located in the New York Palace and preceeds the opening of his restaurant, also to be located at the hotel, Villard Michel Richard. Pomme Palais serves fun treats and light fare, including chocolates, sweets, breakfast, lunch and light entrees. While savory items include Fried Chicken and Gourgeres and 72 hour short rib sandwiches, it was the sweet items that we were fortunate enough to sample.
Pomme Palais is currently serving some exceptional holiday cakes, which should not be passed up! From the Lemon Eggceptional Cake to Michel’s Snowman, everything was jaw-droppingly beautiful and equally mouthwatering. We even enjoyed the Orange Creme Brulee Cheesecake, which was an interesting twist on classic cheesecake and flan…neither of which I usually like! However, our favorite cake of the bunch had to be the Opera Cake, which was a layered cake with coffee, chocolate and almond flavors.
Whether you are looking for some cakes, chocolates, macarons, or something more substantial, this new spot in Midtown East will definitely keep you satisfied.
Pomme Palais is located at 30 East 51st Street.
