There is no shortage of charity events taking place in New York City, but last week, instead of the usual fancy dinner and award show event, the first official fundraiser for R.A.K.E. (Random Acts of Kindness) did things a little differently. The Cleveland-based charity was founded by Ricky Smith, and is dedicated to supporting the community in a positive way by promoting random acts of kindness in strangers. Last week’s event, RAKE Karaoke, was the first of a monthly series that will take place at Bounce Sporting Club.
In honor of the inaugural event, celebrities such as model Selita Ebanks and singer Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes made appearances and got in the spirit of the evening by performing karaoke. McCoy livened up the crowd by performing old school hits ‘Hypnotize,’ ‘Paul Revere,’ ‘La Di Da Di,’ and even his own smash hit ‘I Want to Be a Billionaire.’ Selita Ebanks also joined in on the fun and belted it out to ‘No Woman No Cry.’
The night’s karaoke was enhanced by live music by the Matt Cusson Band and attendees enjoyed Bounce’s signature cocktails, as well as a sampling of food. All proceeds from the evening benefitted RAKE and we look forward to the next karaoke series at Bounce!
