After we saw the impressive debut of youngster Rohitava Banerjee at Nolcha Fashion Week, we were excited to see what designers at the main runway show would present. Luckily, we weren’t disappointed.
First up was Intrepid by AO’C, designed by Aerin O’Connel, who presented a hybrid of minimalism and luxury womenswear. We loved that all of the designs on the runway looked fashionable, but effortless and easy. There’s always something to be said for something simple and these designs hit the nail on the head.
Next on the runway was Acid NYC, made by Evelyn Luna and Scott Chester. One of the things I loved about this collection was it’s inspiring use of print and color. It’s always refreshing to see bright, fun colors and patterns on the runway. Plus, the brand incorporated pieces using ThermalTech, a steel mesh inserted to garments that absorbs heat to warm the body. We especially loved their leggings, which made us green with envy.
Last but not least was All Comes From Nothing, founded by Eva Yiwei Xu, whose art-inspired contemporary collection closed out the show with what could be some of the best jackets of all time. Geometric shapes and patterns adorned the runway in this show and it really worked for us. While one jacket featured an ingenius built-in scarf, it was the draped, modern coats that really wowed us. We’ll take one of each, please!
