Recap: Taste of Greenwich House

Earlier this week we attended the food-centric event, the 12th annual Taste of Greenwich House. The event brings together over 30 of New York’s best restaurants and beverages to one spot, allowing guests to try their delicious fare, all for a great cause. Greenwich House is a fabulous non-profit organization that provides cultural, educational, health and recreational services at eight locations throughout the city. Whether it’s pottery or music classes, money management or chemical dependency programs, Greenwich House is dedicated to enriching the lives of New Yorkers.

The well-attended event took place at the Metropolitan Pavilion and not only included a bevy of food and drinks, but live music, an incredible silent auction, raffle and photos opportunities, as well. It was hard to know when to stop the gluttony with all of the available grub, but a few dishes really stood out. Bar Bacon‘s pulled pork slider topped with pineapple slaw and Nueske’s bacon was phenomenal, Lavo’s meatball was very tasty, and Commerce surprised us with an unusual vegetable, poached egg and truffle oil combo. Additionally, we enjoyed the refreshing taste of Sorel‘s cocktail of the evening, as well as Casa Nonna’s ricotta gnocchi in lobster sauce, V Spot’s outstanding vegan empanada and L’Apicio’s short rib and polenta. The desserts weren’t lacking either. We loved the Sugar Flower Cake Shop’s tasty lemon cupcakes, divine chocolates from Li-Lac Chocolates and impressive green tea white chocolate chip cookies from Press Tea.

While we wish we could give you a rundown of all of the edibles offered during the evening, there were just too many to name, but we were not disappointed by a single item we tried! Greenwich House sure knows how to host a party and for such a great and worthwhile cause, we cannot wait to continue to support this wonderful organization.

Twisted Talk: Have you heard of Greenwich House? Will you donate to their cause? What’s your favorite NYC restaurant? Discuss below!
