Revert to Childhood at The Rain Room

by

In this day and age it’s really rare that the average person stops and takes in all the beauty of the world. At the Rain Room, a temporary exhibit at The Museum of Modern Art, your inner child comes out to play and takes in the wonder of this science-meets-art display. The exhibit is part of MoMA PS1 exhibition EXPO 1: New York and is the work of Random International, which is their biggest project to date. The immersive installation allows 10 guests at a time, where they will walk through  falling water without getting wet. As you walk through the pouring rain, sensors detect human presence and cease the rain wherever you are standing.

The exhibit, which is open until July 28th, has had plenty of rave reviews — New Yorkers and tourists alike have waited in line to see this spectacular exhibit for upwards of six hours. Is it worth the wait? Definitely. We recommend coming prepared…snacks, drinks and good conversation are necessary. While most visitors decide to wake up early and check out the exhibit right when it opens, this actually tends to be the busiest time. Head to the exhibit in the late afternoon to encounter the shortest lines.

Why would someone wait for hours during New York summer? The exhibit truly is remarkable — the technology behind the miraculous rainfall is incredible and being a part of it makes you feel the wonderment. A bright spotlight directed towards the rain makes picture taking a must: check out some of ours below!
