Over the years I’ve taken quite a few fitness classes at gyms all around the city. Last year, I joined Crunch for their Anti-Gravity Yoga class and had so much fun that I was excited to be invited back to try out another one of their classes. On a rainy day last week, I turned my dreary day around with a sampling of Crunch’s SHH…Silent Disco-Inspired classes. I opted to try the Shh…Silent Disco Dance Party class, cause it obviously sounded like a blast. Participants utilized state-of-the-art headphones by Quiet Events, that allows wearers to alternate music channels throughout the class. There were three instructors, each showing us dance moves to different music — Zumba, Hard Knocks (hip hop and kickboxing) and #TBT Pop Dance Project. Depending on what channel you are on, your headphones will reflect a different color light, so it’s easy to follow along. Switching up the dance styles and music throughout the class made it fly by, and best of all, I worked up quite a sweat!
Shh…Tread n’ Shred was another class option, in which participants do a grueling treadmill workout that alternates between sprints, jogs and walks at varying speeds and incline. The classes at Crunch are getting better and better and the silent disco class was one of the most fun workouts I’ve had in a long time. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
