Fast food has never tasted, or felt, so good. SONIC Drive-In just launched their new SONIC Signature Slingers, which clock in at under 350 calories. The patty is comprised of 100% pure beef, blended with mushrooms and seasonings and topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, diced onions, dill pickles, mayo and melted American cheese, served on a brioche bun. And they only cost $1.99!
Speaking as someone who doesn’t even like mushrooms, I can attest that this burger is bomb. It tastes like 100% meat, but doesn’t feel as greasy or as heavy as your typical burger. (I even crushed a 4-mile run seconds after eating one.)
As of this week, diners can try these great new addition to the menu. Sonic will also offer the Bacon Melt SONIC Signature Slinger, which is made with crispy bacon, melted cheese and mayo, on a brioche bun. To top off your meal, you can also try a SONIC Fruit Fizz, a sparkling fruit water that comes in three flavors — Strawberry Peach, Mango Lime and Raspberry Lemon.
These new additions to the menu really recalibrate the definition of fast food. A burger chain now offers healthier, low calorie versions of something they’ve mastered and it is sure to draw in a wider customer base and give diners something they don’t have to feel so guilty about.
