South African Wine Goes Down Smooth at Blue Smoke

by

Mulderbosch

Mulderbosch recently held an event hosted by Colangelo PR at the Blue Smoke. For those of you who don’t know Mulderbosch, they are a South African wine company producing fantastic wines with well-known grape varietals.

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Rose is absolutely delightful! This wine is fruit forward, full of ripe, rich fruit and black currants. On the palate it is juicy with racy acidity and zesty notes.

Chennin Blanc is one of South Africa’s most widely planted grape varietals. The 2011 Chennin by Mulderbosch is 20% aged in wood and has a powerful nose of guava, lime, and ripe pear. This wine has refreshing acidity and would be wonderful with lighter dishes and seafood.

The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc was a crowd favorite, and certainly one of the conversation topics of the evening. This wine was fruit forward and absolutely gorgeous. Full of lemon zest, gooseberry, and herbal undertones, this wine is a must try! Lastly, the 2009 Red Wine Blend named the Faithful Hound made it’s way into the glasses of guests. This wine was seductive and spicy, with aromas of blackberry, cinnamon, and a full palate.

The beauty of this event is that it was pour your own wine. This was nice because guests could go back to the wines they liked the most and try a full glass. The wines were paired with dishes from Blue Smoke and consisted of sliders, scallops wrapped in bacon, and chicken skewers. Be sure to check out Mulderbosch wines in a store near you! Trader Joe’s has the rose for a great price and you will surely love this wine if you are a rose fan!
