Whether it’s a piece of jewelry or spiked stilettos, I love wearing statement pieces. They’re bold, fascinating and sometimes, conversation starters. Right now, I’m wearing the Palma ring from Unbound. My statement: I’m an unapologetically sexual woman who is not afraid to show it.
Launched in 2014, Unbound is a New York City-based sexual wellness brand that’s changing the way we talk and think about pleasure, sexuality, body positivity, and technology. Its latest creation is the Palma, a fashion-forward ring that doubles as a vibrator. You heard correctly: a vibrator!
The stylish ring is available in gold-plated steel or a silver finish and comes in sizes ranging from 5-8 (as of now). The team plans on adding more sizes in the near future. The wearable vibrator is also waterproof and can be worn vertical or horizontally. While the Palma is a sleek statement piece, its double identity is discreet. No one but you has to know it’s a vibrator, (unless you want them to!).
The ring might be small, but it’s uniquely powerful. Utilizing innovative technology, the Palma features special vibration settings. The first three are your traditional low, medium and high vibrator settings. The fourth setting’s intensity depends on the tilt of your ring. Last, but certainly not least, its fifth speed—which is my favorite—is customized by tapping the ring in the rhythmic pattern you want the vibration to mimic. It’s a technological genius! Even the packaging is sexy. Nestled in a beautifully pastel pink and blue box, the Palma comes with its own small charging dock and the words “feeling myself” are cleverly inscribed inside the box.
So what’s Unbound’s backstory? After co-founder, Polly Rodriguez underwent radiation treatment for cancer at the age of 21, her body went into early menopause, affecting her sex drive. After a friend, who is also a nurse, suggested she try a vibrator, she searched for one compatible to her needs. After tirelessly searching online, Rodriguez realized the sexual wellness market had a lot left to be desired, especially for women. So she partnered with co-founder Sarah Jayne and launched Unbound.
The online sexual wellness store carries other wearable sex accessories, including beautiful bracelets that double as handcuffs and a choker necklace that camouflages a whip. If you’re not into wearing your pleasure toys, Unbound carries dildos, lubricants and other accessories, as well.
