You may know the name Zane Lamprey from one of his many drinking endeavors, including playing host to shows such as CHUG, Drinking Made Easy, Three Sheets and more. The drinking king, who has been asked countless times what his favorite drink is, decided to take matters into his own hands and create his own favorite tipple. Thus began the three year journey of researching, sampling and developing what would soon become Monkey Rum.
For someone whose job is all about drinking, it’s safe to say standards were set high when developing this product. The rum, which is inspired by Lamprey’s travels to over 60 countries across the globe, pays homage to Pleepleus the monkey, his simian sidekick. Monkey Rum comes in two distinct flavors — Monkey Rum with Toasted Coconut and Monkey Spiced Rum. Distilled 100% from Caribbean molasses and barrel aged in bourbon American Oak, both rums result in a smooth, natural-tasting rum. The toasted coconut rum is aged between 6 and 12 months, while the spiced rum ages for 2 to 3 years.
The toasted coconut rum gives off natural coconut flavors, with notes of smoked hickory, and the spiced rum has cinnamon, caramelized sugar and vanilla notes. Both rums are very smooth and go down easy, perfect for sipping on the rocks or in a cocktail. This superior rum will take you on an adventure without the need to leave your couch.
