Judging by the name of this super group, you expect it to be composed of seasoned musicians who have been in the industry for a long time. And that is exactly what you get when you attend a Hit Men concert. I had the chance to attend their Holiday Concert that took place at the Tribeca PAC in New York City and I was so energized with the music that was played that night.
The Hit Men is composed of Lee Shapiro (Keyboard/Vocals), Gerry Polci (Drums/Vocals), Jim Ryan (Guitar/Vocals), Larry Gates (Bass/Vocals), and Russ Velazquez (Keyboard/Percussion/Vocals), who have been a part of famous songs like “You’re so Vain” and “Oh, What A Night.” These are musicians that have played with the best of the best. From Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Carly Simon, Barry Manilow, and Paul McCartney to musicians like Sting and Carole King, these guys have truly built an amazing repertoire.
The night was filled with joy and singing throughout the crowd. The musicality of The Hit Men is the main reason why people were clapping, dancing, and singing along to the songs; some people didn’t even know the songs and still enjoyed the evening! This was an entertaining and nostalgic evening for the whole family, and I had a blast attending the concert with my younger sister and introducing her to new music. This is a must see show for everyone, and The Hit Men: Holiday Hits Album is a must have CD for this holiday season! The songs on the album are classics that everyone will enjoy from “All I Want for Christmas If You” and “Jingle Bell Rock” to “The Little Drummer Boy.” The Hit Men’s energy really makes you jump up on your feet and dance along to the songs.
