Trick or Treat: Halloween Cocktail Recipes to Help You Survive 2020

It’s all treats and no tricks this year. After all, we’ve had enough tricks in 2020 to last a lifetime. So enjoy the spookiest time of the year with one or many of these deliciously horrific cocktails. Cheers!

Harvest Moon (Courtesy of Cassandra Rosen and Tussock Jumper Wines)
3 oz Tussock Jumper Riesling
1 oz Portuguese brandy
1/4 oz spiced honey syrup*
1/2 oz Grand Marnier
1 dash orange bitters
Garnish: orange peel

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well for 20 seconds and strain into a chilled cocktail glass over a large ice sphere. Garnish with orange peel. *Make spice honey syrup with ½ cup each water and honey, plus ¼ tsp of pumpkin pie spice. Heat to a boil, then cool. Keeps in the refrigerator for approximately one week.

Zesty Rambutan (Courtesy of Espanita Blanco Tequila)
2 oz. Espanita Blanco Tequila
6-7 rambutans
1-2 jalapeño slices, seeds removed
1/4 oz. fresh ginger juice
1 oz. triple sec
1 tbsp. frozen concentrated limeade

Grate a piece of ginger and squeeze the juice out. Measure 1/4 oz. into a jigger. Peel the skins from rambutans, remove the seeds and slice the fruit. Place sliced rambutan flesh and jalapeño slices into a Boston shaker and muddle. Add tequila, fresh ginger juice, triple sec, limeade and a handful of ice. Shake vigorously and strain through fine mesh strainer into a cocktail glass filled with fresh ice.

Dark Reviver (Courtesy of Corralejo Reposado Tequila)
1 oz. Corralejo Reposado Tequila
1⁄2 oz. Lemon Juice
1⁄2 oz. Orange Juice
3⁄4 oz. Aperol or Amaro Nonino or
Amaro Montenegro or Amaretto
1⁄4 Teaspoon Activated Charcoal Powder or 2 capsules—break capsule

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake thoroughly, Hawthorne and fine strain into a coupe glass. Cut a thick orange peel. Light a match and express the orange peel oil into the flame over the cocktail. Then rim the glass with the freshly flamed peel. Place a freshly sliced orange twist on the edge of the glass.

2 oz. Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila
3/4 oz. Agave Nectar
1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
1 Tbsp. Activated Charcoal Powder

Add all the ingredients in a shaker. Shake well and pour into a Tanteo Jalapeno Salt rimmed, ice-filled Coupe Glass.

Smoke, Mirrors and Colors (Courtesy of Crystal Head Vodka)
1.5 ounces of Crystal Head Aurora
1 ounce of dry vermouth
½ ounce of mezcal

Add all ingredients to mixing glass; stir. Strain into a coupe glass *This cocktail has dry ice: use with caution and do not ingest.

Passionate Souls Paloma (Courtesy of Correlejo Reposado Tequila)
1 1⁄2 oz. Corralejo Reposado Tequila
1⁄4 oz. Simple Syrup
3⁄4 oz. Lemon Juice
1 oz. Passion Fruit Pureé
5 Dashes Cayenne Tincture
3 Drops Angostura Bitters
Top with Grapefruit Soda or Grapefruit Beer
Rim with Tajín
Rocks Ice

Combine all ingredients except for grapefruit beer into a cocktail shaker, shake thoroughly. Rim the Collins glass with Tajín, then add fresh rocks ice. Hawthorne and fine strain the cocktail over rocks in the glass, then top off the cocktail with grapefruit soda or grapefruit beer. Garnish with a dried blood orange wheel and a torched grapefruit half-moon.

Bloody Daiquiri Shake (Courtesy of Alex Hauk and Stephan Berg, Tiki Lovers)
2 oz. Tiki Lovers White Rum
1 oz. Fresh Lime juice
3 oz. sugar syrup
2 oz. milk
7-8 mint leaves
1/4 oz pomegranate syrup

Shake all ingredients (except pomegranate syrup) with ice and fine strain into fancy Halloween glass filled with crushed ice. Float with pomegranate syrup.

Tanteo Tequila Panadero Margarita (Courtesy of Tanteo Tequila)
2 oz. Tanteo Chipotle Tequila
1 oz. Fresh lemon juice
¾ oz. Light agave Nectar
1 oz. Pumpkin Puree

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a hollowed mini-pumpkin. Garnish with freshly ground nutmeg and cinnamon.

1 1/2 oz. Tequila Cazadores Reposado
3 oz. orange juice
1/2 oz. grenadine
Orange slice and cherry for garnish

In a Collins glass, combine ice, tequila and orange juice. Don’t mix in the grenadine, and instead let it ooze from the top to give a more Halloween-themed effect. Garnish with one orange slice and a cherry.

Tanduay Zombie (Courtesy of Tanuady Rum)
1 oz. Tanduay Silver Rum
1 1/2 oz. violet liqueur
1/2 oz. heavy cream
luster dust

Rim a martini glass with luster dust. Add the rum, violet liqueur and heavy cream to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass.

1 1/2 oz. Green Chartreuse
1/2 oz. Simple
1 oz Pineapple
3/4 oz. lime juice
1/2 oz. Combier
A large sprig of mint

Add all the ingredients into a shaker tin with ice and shake. Fine strain into coupe glass.

Skeleton Bubblebath (Courtesy of David Velasquez, Spellbound MIA & Slane Irish Whiskey)
2 oz. Slane Irish whiskey
3/4 oz. Apple cider
1/2 oz. Homemade Fall Spiced Syrup
1/4 oz. Homemade Caramel Green Apple candy
1/2 oz. Golden Falernum Liqueur

Shake all the ingredients and strain.
