No one knows wine quite like a sommelier, so when we discovered Josh Cellars Wine, we knew it would be good. Joseph Carr is an award winning sommelier and international wine industry executive who decided to follow his dreams and founded Joseph Carr Winery in 2005. The winery, located in Carneros, California, works with small growers, coopers and winemakers to produce elegant, yet approachable wines.
The Josh Cellars wines are made out of a really fun concept. After producing the Joseph Carr wines portfolio, the makers casually sit around, experiment, tell stories, and make wine just for themselves. Referred to jokingly as ‘vin de garage,’ these wines are anything but trash. They are named after Carr’s father since they are expressive, yet unassuming and approachable, much like his father. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is rich with fruit flavors like black currant and spicy berries, with subtle oak nuances. It is comprised of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. As someone not always fond of red wine, I found this rather enjoyable and very smooth. This is certainly a wine that will please many palates. Additionally, their Chardonnay was quite exquisite. This Chardonnay is very crisp and a bit acidic, with fruits such as peaches and pear, along with vanilla and smoke, partially barrel fermented. Not only are both of these wines great to sip on their own, but both will pair exceptionally well with food. They are also a steal at just $14.99 a bottle!
Additionally, for every bottle sold from now until December 31st, Josh Cellars will donate $1 up to $50,000 to Operation Homefront, an organization that supports our military heroes and their families. With the holiday season upon us, this will make for the perfect gift for your loved ones!
