With freezing temperatures taking over the city, it’s no wonder New Yorkers are all jumping on planes to the closest tropical island. Nix the plane, kill the winter cold and turn up the heat at the Winter Art Garden at The James NY. The exhibit, titled Still Moving, is curated by resident artist Matt Jensen and Recess Art and features the work of five New York City based artists. The artists involved are continuing a conversation initiated by existing installations from Molly Dilworth and Mike Calway-Fagen. The featured artists include Beth Campbell, Dave Hardy, Marie Lorenz, Alina Tenser, and Jeff Williams.

All sculptures are actually constructed specifically to answer wind patterns, elevations and precipitation of an outdoor garden, all which reference the warmth of the artists’ hands in contact with the raw materials used in their works. The exhibit speaks of heat and motion, warming up viewers from the inside out.

The Winter Art Garden is open to guests of the hotel and the public in the Urban Garden until March 31st every day from 9am-5pm.
