Since RuPaul’s Drag Race finished for the season and New York’s own Bianca Del Rio was crowned the winner, people are having a drag queen void. The OUT Hotel and Dragged Around the World unveiled a new exhibit by Magnus Hastings that showcases over 70 iconic drag queens entitled, Why Drag?
As people walk throughout the hotel’s lobby, they will notice the walls covered in drag. From contestants of this season’s RuPaul’s Drag Race to the famous Lady Bunny, the stars reenact their favorite celebrities and show their creative side.
“I can’t help it! You are a walking art form and can transform into any creature in your head and present yourself to the world. The possibilities are endless, why not?” Thorgy Thor, one of the individuals featured in the exhibit, said.
From an amazing impersonation of Judy Garland and Adele to priceless poses of Bianca Del Rio, people will definitely have a few laughs at the exhibit. Take a break in the study and people will see a room devoted to RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant, Courtney Act in a provocative manner. Flaunting her amazing body, Act bares all for the 6 NSFW portraits. During the unveiling, Act performed for guest and showed what she can do with her stunning figure.
All the people featured in the exhibit have put their own twist to drag, from shocking the audience to using comedy or making a statement, they transform into our desires. Why Drag? gives visitors an insightful understanding of why men decide to do drag, and the process it takes to be transformed into one of the beauties featured in the lobby.
“Creating chaos for a better tomorrow, warping the mind of reality and pissing on sadness,” Porcelain said about why she does drag. “Being a kaleidoscope of unusual attraction, questioning my existence in a world full of monkeys. That’s all we are after all, animals fighting to stay alive… drag or die.”
